Today is a gloomy and rainy day but, I am quite happy with life as I plan my decidedly non computer repairs related day. I am off to have my half way ultrasound, you see why I am so excited now. Another important but less weighty reason is my new fashionable umbrella. There is not much a pregnant lady can indulge in the country where maternity clothing is represented by K-Mart selection of potato sacks…. In the latest computer repairs news Google reinvents Wallet and turns your phones into virtual cards. I have written about this type of technology before and although Adaptu Wallet remains my favourite replacement for financial conscience, it does not allow payment by phone. In other words, it does not allow the user to operate their smartphone as if it were a bankcard/bank teller/etc. And as long as my computer repairs geeks need to carry bank teller machines and customers need to go through their array of cards to complete transactions and pay for service – with everything often ending up back at ‘sign this bit of paper’ stage, – I will remain to be very interested in all things that make this part of business easier for all parties… Continue reading “Computer repairs blog: Google reinvents its Wallet with virtual card” »

Google glasses

Google has released its designs for “augmented reality glasses”. The glasses layer emails, video chat, Google searches and GPS directions over the wearer’s eyes. (I am thinking…’Here come more car accidents…’)

The glasses are voice-controlled and were developed in the famous  Google X blue-sky ideas lab.

The glasses do not cover the whole eye and the wearer has to look up to engage with the display.
