Dundas is located 22 kilometres North West of the Sydney central business district, this western suburb is in the local government area of the City of Parramatta

The Dundas name was first used in 1799 and was named after the Dundas family of Scotland. Mostly in parts of the former British Empire the Dundas name is used in their honour in over 100 place names. In 1791 the first private land grants were given in the areas now known as Dundas Valley, Ermington and North East Dundas.

Dundas and the surrounding areas were originally known as *the Ponds* - the name is still reflected in the *Ponds Creek*

Dundas has 3 schools – Cumberland High School, St Patricks’ Marist College and Dundas Public School. St Andrew’s Dundas is the local Anglican Church. It is surrounded by neighbouring suburbs Oatlands, Telopea, Rydalmere, Dundas Valley, Ermington, North Parramatta and Parramatta.
