Eschol Park Historical Note:

Eschol Park is located 60 kilometres south west of the Sydney central business district; it is in the local government area of the City of Campbelltown and is part of the Macarthur region.

The area we now call Eschol Park was originally home to the Tharawal people who were based in the Illawarra region. Landowner William Fowler in 1858 bought a property known as Eagle Vale with the intention of starting a vineyard. As a devout Christian he gave his property a biblical name *Eschol Park*. He quickly established a two story winery and extensive vineyard on his property within a decade and was producing 2000 to 3000 gallons of wine a year.

The area remained rural and was dominated by dairy cattle until 1975 when plans for future housing got underway – by 1978 Highfield Estate the first part of the proposed suburb was being built, and in 1985 Eschol Park Primary School was opened.
