Lilli Pilli Historical Note:

Lilli Pilli is located 26 kilometres south of the Sydney central business district; it is in the local government area of the Sutherland Shire. There is also another Lilli Pilli in New South Wales, located 12 kilometres south of Batemans Bay.

This small suburb has been named after the Lilly Pilly native myrtles that grew on the point.  Thomas Holt owned most of the land in that area stretching from Cronulla to Sutherland, with 20 acres on the point belonging to Francis Mitchell.

In 1957 a Public School was opened.

Surrounded by The Port Hacking River, Gannons Bay, Little Turriel Bay and Great Turriel Bay, Lilli Pilli Point is located at the end of Lilli Pilli Point Road. The bushlands reserve overlooks the Royal National Park and is a great secluded picnic area. A rock ledge runs along the northern point and many good fishing spots can be found along here, all the way to Little Turriell Bay.
