Londonderry Historical Note:

Londonderry is located 60 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district; it is in the local government area of the City of Penrith and is part of the Greater Western Sydney region.

Londonderry takes its name from a land grant given to Thomas Kendall of 30 acres in 1831

Londonderry is still a rural area with much of the land still crown land. Due to its location, closer to Richmond than to Penrith the suburb has always had stronger links to the closer Richmond area.

The Village is in the centre of the suburb and forms a vital connection point for the community. Facilities include a community hall, shops, post office, Londonderry Public School and the Londonderry Rural Fire Brigade Station.

Surrounding suburbs include Agnes Banks, Castlereagh, Richmond, Cranebrook, Blight Park, Llandilo and Berkshire Park.

One of the areas famous residents is Christina Brook – the next of kin to Ronald Macdonald.
