Warriewood Historical Note:

Warriewood is located 26 kilometres north of the Sydney central business district; it is in the local government area of Pittwater Council and is a part of the Northern Beaches region.

Warriewood has been named after the Warriewood Estate owned by Henry F Halloran that was subdivided in 1906. Henry had purchased the estate from the McPherson family.

The suburb of Warriewood contains a cinema complex and medium sized shopping centre, a swimming beach and mini putt-putt golf. There is also the Catholic high school Mater Maria Catholic College.

The Warriewood Valley was chosen by the NSW State Government as a potential land release area and rezoned it for housing development and associated infrastructure. The rezoning and development of the valley area has lead to the cleaning up of wetlands and water bodies with water management techniques applied to deal with any flooding.
